Lea Carranza, MS, AMFT

PsyD Student

(She/Her)

Hello! My name is Lea, and I am a third-year doctoral student at the Chicago School of Professional Psychology, specializing in clinical psychology. I am thrilled to be continuing my neuropsychological training at re+active. My passion lies in the assessment and treatment of individuals with chronic pain, neurological disorders, traumatic brain injury, and working with those who have experienced complex trauma and vicarious trauma.

In addition to my pursuit to become a neuropsychologist, I hold my master's in counseling psychology from Mount Saint Mary’s University (MSMU) and am an active Associate Marriage and Family Therapist (AMFT). I love the field so much that I am also an instructor of undergraduate psychology courses at MSMU. I am deeply committed to working in a field that promotes human ability and personal growth. My clients appreciate my warmth, humor, and genuine contribution to our work together. I have successfully treated a diverse range of individuals and particularly enjoy creatively collaborating with caretakers and empathetic individuals, such as healthcare providers, nurses, wellness practitioners, first-responders, best friends, and super-parents, who need support in helping themselves.

My approach is to treat you as the unique individual you are, striving to understand you and develop a collaborative plan. I respect your individuality and value talk therapy as we explore your inner world, identify patterns, increase awareness, and make impactful changes. My foundation is integrative therapy, utilizing a wide range of perspectives tailored to your needs. I am passionate about viewing you as a holistic and ever-evolving individual. This allows us to utilize various theories and modalities that best serve you. I fully support a holistic approach to rehabilitation, ensuring that your providers consult to provide you with the best and most up-to-date care.

Outside of my busy academic and professional schedule, I enjoy the outdoors, especially the ocean. I am extremely grateful for yoga and the way in which movement has changed my own life. I engage in various crafts and am currently in full DIY mode for my upcoming wedding. I’m thinking about picking up woodworking! My partner and I share our home with two cats, Meredith and Oliver, who have our whole hearts.

I look forward to working with you and supporting your journey!
