Dr. Malia Sako OTD, OTR/L (she/her)
Occupational Therapist

Hi! My name is Malia (rhymes with Maria), and I am an occupational therapist. An “occupation” is a meaningful activity that we want to do, need to do, or are expected to do. Sometimes, chronic/neurological conditions can throw a wrench in how we engage in these activities, so my job and passion is to help you participate in a more satisfying, effective way.
I firmly believe that you are the expert of your body, and I always want to hear your preferences, knowledge, and lived experience before I apply my OT lens. My lens is influenced by my experience in lifestyle-based OT at the University of Southern California, so I also believe that our day-to-day wellness routines are essential in maintaining and improving our function. I often tell my clients that I’m not interested in a “good month” of healthy habits; I want to make sure that you have the confidence, tools, and reasonable goal-setting to sustain your progress beyond our time together.
I try to walk-the-walk and integrate my meaningful activities so that I can show up as my best self for the people in my life and myself. Some of my favorites include yoga, hiking, reading, cooking/baking, exploring music, admiring my orange Maine Coon cat, and doing these things with my husband, loved ones, or solo!
Thank you for taking the time to get to know me; I am excited to meet you and put our heads together to improve your self-efficacy and quality of life.
