Hi there! My name is Sophia. I am a fourth-year clinical psychology PsyD candidate with an emphasis in health psychology and I am thrilled to be completing my year-long clinical placement at re+active. My passions all stem from the intersection of the mind-body connection and social justice. I love exploring the role of the nervous system in physical and mental health and engaging in research and advocacy work to address systemic barriers in healthcare settings - especially for people in larger bodies and the BIPOC, LGBTQ+, and neurodivergent communities. My health psychology background centers on chronic pain, Ehlers-Danlos syndrome, dysautonomia, long COVID, endocrine conditions, and functional disorders, with an emphasis on chronic medical conditions in the neurodivergent and LGBTQ+ communities. At re+active, I provide psychotherapy, psychoeducation, and neuropsychological assessment. I particularly enjoy helping people adjust to life with a chronic illness or disability, cultivate positive body image in the midst of changing physical abilities, and improve vagal tone for optimal symptom management. In therapy, I integrate approaches such as acceptance and commitment therapy, cognitive-behavioral therapy, and relational-cultural therapy with somatic tools from my experience as a yoga teacher to help you connect with your values, build upon your strengths, and reach your therapeutic goals. My ultimate goal in both therapy and assessment is to create a collaborative, curious, safe environment for you to explore your identity, experiences, and path forward. I believe in an interdisciplinary approach to wellness and work with your physical and occupational therapists along the way to make sure you get the most holistic care possible. Outside of my time at re+active, you can typically find me teaching yoga, sitting in any sunny patch of grass I can find, songwriting, spending time with my pets and partner, or attempting (not very successfully) to learn to surf. My heart has an eternal soft spot for Survivor, The Sims, and oddball ocean creatures. I look forward to being a part of your therapeutic journey!
